They didn’t want a conventional semi-slick, but the same round profile as our other Rene Herse tires, for predictable cornering grip at all times—whether in a muddy gravel race or during a paved descent with ultra-fast hairpin turns.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo we went about reinventing semi-slick tires. It took three years of R\u0026amp;D and resulted in \u003cstrong\u003ethree new patents\u003c\/strong\u003e. Instead of distinct zones with different tread patterns, the \u003cstrong\u003eslick tread transitions seamlessly into the side knobs\u003c\/strong\u003e, for better and more predictable grip as the bike leans into corners. The first row of side knobs is \u003cstrong\u003eanchored on the center tread\u003c\/strong\u003e to stiffen the knobs for superior traction under extreme power—important when you sprint or climb out of the saddle and rock the bike from side to side. The knobs are arranged with our proprietary \u003cstrong\u003enoise cancelling technology\u003c\/strong\u003e, making this tire almost eerily quiet for a gravel tire.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe innovations don’t stop there: The \u003cstrong\u003eradius of the tread is significantly larger\u003c\/strong\u003e than the radius of the casing—effectively creating a tire that corners like a much-wider tire. This innovation also allows us to make the center tread thin and supple for ultra-low rolling resistance, while the tall side knobs provide superb traction when the tire sinks\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003einto the surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTogether with our supple casings, the result is a semi-slick tire that’s \u003cstrong\u003efaster than most slicks\u003c\/strong\u003e on the market.
