Description

The Tallboy is a short-travel bike with long legs. Our perennial 29-inch bike has dropped weight and bulked up on travel to meet the needs of riders looking to maximize power hours or ride all the hours. It's light and efficient enough to climb with the best of them, yet punches way above its weight class as soon as the trail turns down. Excellent suspension, big wheels, thoroughly-tuned carbon layup and rock-solid reliability let you go as hard as you want.

Key Updates & Features:
• Increased Travel - Bumped up to 130mm four-bar rear travel & 140mm fork, the Tallboy lets you go a little harder.
• Reduced Weight - 300 grams lighter than the previous model. That's a whole two-thirds of a pound.
• New Suspension - Along with the increased travel and reduced weight, the new four-bar achieves a decreased amount of anti-squat, so there's minimal pedal kickback on square-edge hits, it remains active while pedaling up and across rough, technical terrain, and delivers fantastic braking performance in all conditions.
• All CC - One frame, one layup, all drivetrains. Every frame accommodates mechanical drivetrain cable routing with our well-loved, tube-in-tube cable management system.
• Sized and Tuned for Every Rider - Proportional geometry and frame stiffness, so every rider gets the same ride feel and performance across the XS - XXL size range.
• Glovebox V2 - Recently introduced on the new Nomad, there's a better latch, stronger engagement, and a new mounting process that makes Glovebox more usable, durable & quieter.
• Flip Chip - Hi for pedaling, Lo for sending. Dial in your preferred ride-feel and geometry without any fuss.
• Accessory Mount - First used on our e-bikes, and a great place to mount a tube or multi-tool, which leaves you more room in the Glovebox for snacks.

If you're on the cusp between the recommended height range of two sizes, the absolute best thing is to try to ride them both. At a minimum, check the stack/reach measurements on your current bike and compare it to the new model you are looking at to get an idea of a fit you are already comfortable with. If riding the bike is not an option, consider the following.

A larger size frame will be more stable, and will give you more room to move without upsetting the weight-balance of the bike. The larger size will put the front wheel further in front of you, which gives the feeling of security and conversely, it will require more significant body movements when you WANT to shift the weight-bias of the bike. Think hard about your riding style and how active/intuitive you want it to be vs stable and speedy. You'll need to work a bit harder to muscle the larger bike around.

Not all bodies at a given height are the same. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso than the average person your height, that may push you towards the smaller of the recommended sizes. If you're all torso and arms, most likely you'll want to size up.

Some call 120mm “short travel,” while others see it as all the travel you'll need. The Tallboy is an efficient XC pedaler, featuring geometry and a shock tune that make it far more capable than those millimeters suggest.
